Vision, Mission and Mandate
The Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism forms part of the provincial government’s intent to spearhead growth and development of the provincial economy.

Policy priorities are derived from the Provincial Growth and Development Plan (PGDP) (link to document), Provincial Industrial Development Strategy (link to document) and other high impact policy and linkages to initiatives such as the Provincial Job Strategy.   

These policy priorities serve as the drivers for transforming the Eastern Cape’s socio-economic landscape.

In order to achieve and accomplish its vision and mission, the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism is divided into three programmes and an array of structured sub-programmes.

These programmes are administration, economic development and environmental management.
