Liquor Licensing FAQs
1) What are the requirements to acquire a distribution/macro manufacturing registration certificate?
Fill in form NLA 1 and form NLA 1/1.

2) How long does it take to process a manufacturing/distribution certificate?
It takes 90 days to process the application as prescribed by the Act.

4) How does one make commitments in terms of BEE?
One has to commit as per the seven elements of the codes of BEE.

5) How does one make commitments to combating alcohol abuse?
One has to make either a financial or non-financial commitment to combating alcohol abuse. For example: Make a contribution to a rehabilitation centre in the area in which you operate or join an association that is responsible for the combat of alcohol abuse and who's code of conduct has been approved by the minister.

6) How does one provide the NLA with an annual turnover when one is not in operation yet?
Form NLA 14 should be used to lodge an application to relocate a business.

7) What type of forms do I need to fill if I want to relocate my business?
It takes 90 days to process the application as prescribed by the Act.

8) Is a wholesale liquor license the same as a distribution registration?
Yes it is the same thing. The term wholesale has been replaced by the term distribution.

9) When is one required to renew a distribution/manufacturing certificate?
The Act requires a registrant to renew a registration annually.

10) How much does a manufacturing/distribution registration costs?
A manufacturing/distribution license costs R 2 500 if the applicant's generate a turnover of less than 5 million rands per annum (see application procedures and fees).

11) Who do I contact to check the status/progress of my application?

12) How much does it costs to renew a registration?
It depends on the annual turnover of an individual entity (see application procedures and fees).
