EC government hands over cheques to LRED, Isiqalo beneficiaries

The Eastern Cape Premier, Mr Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane together with the MEC for the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT), Mr Mlungisi Mvoko handed over cheques to the Local and Regional Development Fund (LRED) and Isiqalo Youth Fund beneficiaries from the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM).

The beneficiaries are in various sectors including manufacturing, tourism and ICT.

They include Eastern Cape Braille and Print Institute (ECBPI) Cooperative from Dimbaza; Bhongoloncedo General Dealer from Tsholomnqa Village; Siyonwabisa Holdings from East London; Nxarhuni Adventure Park from Nxarhuni; Joyride Adventure and Tours from King Williams and MobiWorXs (Digital marketing) from Greenfields.

Prior to the handing over ceremony, the delegation undertook a site tour in the East London Special Economic Zone (ELSEZ) visiting three plants including the new investors announced in the 2021-22 State of the Province Address (SOPA).

The plants visited in the zone are TI Automotive Systems, Auria South Africa and Ebor Automotive Systems with the combined cost of R490 852 623.

The handover took place in the ELSEZ Conference Centre on 16 March 2021. The programme forms part of the Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane led official visit to the BCM to visit projects and hand over funds as pronounced in the 2021-22 SOPA,
