The MEC for Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs, and Tourism, Hon. Nonkqubela Pieters invites members of the media to the Provincial Environmental Day Celebrations, a programme aimed to encourage ongoing commitment to conserve the natural resources of our province.
The day will begin with a tree-planting ceremony after which indigenous and fruit trees will be distributed and planted in fenced areas under DFFE Forestry’s guidance. This supports OR Tambo District’s climate change response, promoting mitigation, adaptation, and resilience. The WSU Risk and Vulnerability Centre will present research on environmental issues in the KSD LM locality.
In this programme, the MEC will be joined by the OR Tambo and KSD Executive Mayors, cllrs Mesuli Ngqondwana and Nyaniso Nelani.
Members of the media are requested to diarise the programme, attend and report on it.
